Orcastration

Poetry by Jeanne Blum Lesinski

Orcastration

An omnibus behemoth hugs

the second-story window frame.

I sense this predator hovering,

leering with 52 white, gaping teeth,

black dorsal fin, Orca shadow.

I have no harpoon, no lance

to pierce its stringy metal harp.

Will it breech and prey,

or beach and pray the maestro,

orchestrating key, signature events,

out of sight--not out of sound.

No limp seal poised to slip

into deep, dark water, I dive

into the belly of the beat.

Arms uplifted in crescendo,

I remain: I will not Bb.
