It speaks, but silently
It reserves judgment
It would never praise
Like a father that does not hug
Like a beach ball covered in spikes
To mortal eyes, it appears disfigured
You will never know how it sees itself.

Jonathan Penton founded the electronic journal Unlikely Stories in 1998, and continues to run it as Editor-in-Chief. He has served in editorial, management, and technical roles for arts organizations including Big Bridge and Rigorous. He now serves as Technical Director for the New Orleans Poetry Festival.
